Four remaining water companies remove temporary use bans
As of 00:01 on 9th July 2012, the four companies that still had Temporary Use Bans (TUBs) in place – South East Water, Sutton and East Surrey Water, Veolia Central and Veolia South East – have all lifted their bans.
The four companies needed more time for their underground water stores to recover from the longer term drought conditions and with the continued rainfall, consideration from customers in saving water by using different resources and the TUBs have all combined to bring the stores back up to normal. The four companies had committed that the restrictions would not be kept in place longer than necessary.
Although there are currently no TUBs now in force, the BSPF will continue working with Water UK, WaterWise and the water companies to demonstrate that the industry has water efficiency credentials and is prepared to develop a Code of Practice on Water Efficiency.
Any further updates on this important topic will appear on the SPATA and BISHTA websites.
