Client: Dorset Middle School
Main Contractor: Bluewater Swimming Pools
This project was carried out at a Dorset Middle School where Bluewater Swimming Pools were contracted to upgrade the filtration plant and chemical dosing system.
Although the pool water quality was always maintained very well using manual methods of treatment, the existing steel vessels were deteriorating internally causing dissolved metals to stain the pool tiles.
Having not been inspected for 20 years due to the access lids being corroded shut it was not possible to undertake our standard refurbishment method as the cost implications involved were unknown until access could be gained to give the school a full written report on our recommendations.
It was decided that both the steel vessels would be cut out and replaced with one simplified filter complete with multiport valve to aid easy operation and improved filtration efficiency.
The method of treating the pool with chemicals was also updated in line with PWTAG, with a fully automated chemical control system complete with chemical holding tanks, LMI dosing pumps and injection lines.
The works were completed on time and in budget.
